Private Autism and ADHD Assessment

We are a specialist clinic, based in Hertford, providing private assessments for autism and ADHD for children, young adults and adults. As can be seen, all of our clinicians have specialist experience and training in autism and ADHD assessment/diagnosis within a range of community and national specialist services.

Principally, we conduct our gold-standard assessments in line The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE guidelines), in order to provide high-quality assessments and reports. Additionally, we use recommended screening and assessment tools such as the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule – 2nd Edition (ADOS-II), and the Qb Check. Our assessors are all trained, experienced, and regulated by a professional body. In addition, we understand the many ways that autism and ADHD can present, including in females, as well as in those with additional needs or complex mental health profiles.

Private Autism and ADHD Assessment Hertford – Referrals

Although based in Hertford, we accept referrals from all over England. Children under the age of 18 do need to be able to attend one face-to-face appointment in Hertford, as part of the assessment process. Generally, the majority of the assessment can be conducted remotely. However, it is best practice for assessment teams to meet the child in order to complete the ADOS-II and/or Qb check, which is a key part of the overall assessment and should be conducted in person in order for the assessment to be valid. For those over the age of 18 there is an option to complete assessments completely remote if this is preferred.

Combined Autism and ADHD Assessment Hertfordshire

We offer assessments for both Autism and ADHD for children and adults. We know that Autism and ADHD often co-occur and so we screen all new referrals for ADHD as well as Autism. Following the screening process, we will advise you whether a full assessment of Autism and ADHD, Autism only or ADHD only is recommended. We will also advice you if we do not think an assessment is required at this stage.

Some individuals or families want to consider medication to help treat their ADHD traits. It is important to note that we do not currently offer an ADHD medication service. If a diagnosis of ADHD is given and you would like to consider medication, then we may be able to signpost you to a local private psychiatrist to help with this. You can also ask your GP to refer you to the appropriate local NHS service for ADHD medication follow-up. Please be aware that a private ADHD diagnosis will not lead to prioritisation in NHS services.
